Lolcat: An animated History
About:
I started this project late last summer as an endeavor to learn how to animate better (using Adobe Flash). I was working a job that gave me a decent amount of downtime, so I came up with this Lolcat idea.
I wrote up a basic script, designed 3d-generated backgrounds for the Lolcat Universe, worked on manipulating the lolcat photos to make them movable characters, and then began animating after those pre-production months.
You WILL notice a big improvement as it progresses, but not so much with the animation quality (I learned most of what I needed to know during my pre-production phase), but how it's pieced together, the entertainment value, the way certain ideas are incorporated, the attention to detail, etc...
Let's just say, the more I worked on it, the more I became consumed by it and the more I gave to it.
The animation became too large in flash to sync with the audio properly, so I had to split it into 6 different parts. It's intended to be seen as one animation instead of six.
I plan on releasing two segments per week (one on Friday and one on either Saturday or Sunday) until 03.01.2008 (when the last segment will be released to the public).
To my knowledge (and I'm pretty sure of this), nothing like this has ever been done before with lolcats.
Notice: I'm going to be working on an unabridged DVD of the Lolcat animation I've created and I plan to make it available FREE for download (hopefully around the time the last part is released).
It's going to have lots of extras (including director's commentary) and is a *must-have* for your next LAN-party, kegger, or whatever.
